FORMAT

The World Spintop Champion will be decided by a 3-minute duration freestyle to music.

The number of finalist players will be limited by the venue. Qualification to the final freestyle will be determined by a 3-minute duration freestyle to music. Players can do the same routine at the qualification and final.

Stop (cut out) at exactly 3 minutes from the start of the music. If you do not wish to include the prelude or other non-performance time in the 3 minutes, please edit the music.

Please note that any performance after the music has stopped will not be scored, and points may be deducted in terms of musicality or showmanship.

Only traditional spinning tops will be permitted in the Traditional division. A traditional top is defined as one with the body made of solid wood and that has a fixed tip. The number of spintops used or available for back-up is not limited, but only tops pre-positioned on stage before the start are to be used and tops that leave the stage during the freestyle may not be returned. All tops used must be wound by the player, no assistance will be permitted.

In Traditional division, routines will be given a technical score of up to 70 points, a musicality score of up to 10 points, control score of up to 10 points and showmanship score of up to 10 points.

TECHNICAL SCORE

Points are given for each completed trick, from 1 to 6 points depending on the difficulty, risk and originality. Combination tricks may be considered as multiple tricks or as one trick of increased difficulty, at the criteria of the judges. Tricks repeated more than 2 times during the freestyle will receive lower scoring. After players did the same tricks more than 4 times, the tricks will not get any points. However, when judges think that the repetition makes the tricks more difficult, points will be given for the tricks repeated more than 4 times. In order to promote exceptional tricks compared to quantity of tricks, the judges may give double points to tricks that are spectacular and make the routine memorable. The scores of each individual judge will be normalized on a 85 point basis.
